The State Meat Inspection Program was established under Act 418 during the 2021 general
session. The division has worked to support the beef and swine industries by promoting more
plants and developing ways for locally owned businesses to supply high quality protein to
surrounding areas. Locally grown and sourced meat products are a key source of proteins for
many rural areas in Arkansas.
Under federal law, the State Meat Inspection Program must operate under a cooperative
agreement with the United States Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection
Service (USDA-FSIS). It also must enforce requirements “at least equal to” those imposed
under the Federal Meat Inspection Act.
Here at Taylor's Ranch and Meats, we are an Arkansas Department of Agriculture (ADA) inspected facility and processes meat under the state's strict regulations for commercial sale. This means we adhere to all ADA guidelines for food safety, sanitation, and quality control. Our facility is regularly inspected to ensure that all meat products are safe, wholesome, and properly handled. Meat processed here is eligible for sale to consumers, retailers, and wholesalers. We offer various cuts and products that meet the high standards required for commercial distribution.
One should also note that these products produced under the Arkansas Meat Inspection program’s grant of inspection are only able to be resold in intrastate commerce, meaning they can be bought and sold within the borders of the state. These products can be sold to individuals outside of the state; however, once outside of the border they cannot be resold.
